Audit Committee Chair, Alpha Housing
Our client, Alpha Housing, is a highly respected provider of social homes, mainly for older people. The organisation is renowned for its personalised and tenant-focused service and, according to recent independent research, achieves tenant satisfaction levels amongst the highest in Northern Ireland.
Alpha Housing currently has almost 1,000 homes and a turnover of £6M and has embarked on an ambitious growth phase. As well as helping set new standards in housing for older people, Alpha Housing is building homes for a range of people and partnering to create mixed tenure communities. This board leadership role, therefore, comes at a pivotal point in Alpha Housing’s development with exciting scope for the housing association to lead and innovate.
As part of the natural renewal process, Alpha is seeking to appoint a new Audit Committee Chair. This is a pivotal role that provides assurance to the Board and ensures that all items requiring the Audit Committee’s approval are diligently reviewed.
The role requires an experienced senior manager/board director with a good understanding of Board governance and a detailed financial and risk management understanding. Candidates will have operated at senior level (i.e., Senior Manager, Director, or equivalent) for at least 5 years within a large business, charity, or public sector organisation, and can demonstrate meaningful impact and achievement throughout their career to date. This role might appeal to experienced candidates who are seeking to complement their executive management experience with a Board governance role and previous experience as a non-executive in an audit-related capacity role would be considered an advantage.
Applications should be received by 27 September 2021. The Audit Committee Chair is non-remunerated and is offered on an initial 3-year term, subject to review.
