Director of Foundation Development
The Irish FA’s Foundation was specifically created to help transform lives using the medium of football. Engagement in football has been shown to play a vital role in Health Improvement, Educational Achievement, attaining Employment, Social Inclusion, Social Justice and makes many more positive contributions to Northern Ireland society. The Irish FA’s Foundation already delivers a wide range of impacts, initiatives, and interventions across the broad area of societal need.
Football has a considerable profile and resources, and the opportunity now exists for a new strategic leader to engage with a broad range of stakeholders and partners, to leverage this profile and resources to shape what should be Northern Ireland’s largest and most impactful Charitable Foundations.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and operating as a key member of the Irish FA’s Senior leadership team, you will provide visible and inspiring leadership to the teams across the Foundation (circa 60 staff), to create a high performing organisation that is able to make considerable societal their impact.
The Director of Foundation Development must build effective partnerships and trusted relationships across local government (DfC, DENI, DoJ, etc.) and national government. Your ability to build relationships that create the opportunity for strategic partnerships that position football to be a catalyst for change and societal improvement, will be a critical determinant of success. In doing do, you will leverage the financial sources and philanthropy that exists within FIFA, UEFA, other football foundations, charitable foundations and National Lottery, among others,
The role requires three years’ Senior Management experience, supported by an impressive track record of delivery, gained either within a B2B environment where the emphasis has been on growth and enhanced delivery OR within a charity, foundation or organisation that delivers societal impact or improved societal outcomes.
Through your career you must demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement experience across multiple sectors and clearly understand how to maximise / leverage resources with commercial partners, funders, or government departments, whether through programme development, sponsorship, grant applications or business alliances.
Your experience of leading large teams to great effect, building a collective focus on high quality delivery that optimises both outputs and impact, will complement this stakeholder engagement and funds development experience. You will naturally be passionate about helping society and be a firm believer that a Foundation of this nature can play a highly impactful and sustainable role in the transformation of Northern Ireland as a place to live, learn, work, and enjoy life.
